Case Highlights
Buckingham Heavy Transport delivered a 449,500-lb slug catcher from barge to destination. The transport plan specified rotating the vessel to decrease load height. Buckingham Heavy Transport coordinated with the client to design and manufacture saddles to support the vessel after the rotation. Buckingham also provided modifications for rigging and roller placement for the rotation and for multiple lifting and handling processes throughout shipment.
The road move required a dual lane trailer due to the load’s weight and multiple bridges in the route. The bulkhead along the river was not accessible by the dual lane trailer, however, so Buckingham received the vessel from a barge crane to 12 lines of Goldhofer SPMT. When it was loaded and secured, Buckingham transported it up the steep grade to a staging area and transloaded it via gantry to the dual lane trailer for highway transport. Buckingham also acquired Highway Use permits to temporarily modify multiple turns in the 50-mile route. Through the use of our vehicle tracking and swept path technology, we were able to identify and properly mitigate problematic turns prior to the load’s arrival.
Client Satisfaction
Buckingham’s collaboration with the client to formulate transport solutions to lower the permitted height while ensuring safe handling of the vessel was key to client satisfaction on this project.
