Case Highlights
Buckingham Heavy Transport was entrusted with relocating the historic Intelligent Whale submarine and its display base from storage to its new museum home. Built in the 1860s, the Intelligent Whale is the only surviving Union Civil War‑era submarine. After a failed trial in 1872, it was placed on public display at the Brooklyn and Washington Navy Yards before eventually being moved to the National Guard Militia Museum of New Jersey. The vessel, measuring 29½ feet in length and weighing 36,000 pounds, represents a rare and irreplaceable piece of American naval history.
