Buckingham Heavy Transport completed the removal and replacement of a 48,000-lb platen in an active industrial facility. The project scope included staging Buckingham stands to support the new platen, installing additional stands and beams in the pit beneath the existing platen, and setting up 100 feet of Buckingham jack and slide system with a 2′ rise to safely slide the platen out of position and onto a Goldhofer SPMT.
After rotating the platen 90 degrees to align it with the plant’s exit, Buckingham’s crew transported it from the facility and offloaded it by crane. The new platen was loaded onto the SPMT, and the following day when the plant was ready for installation, Buckingham transported it into the facility, rotated it, and slid it over the pit into position using the same jack and slide system.

Buckingham’s crew completed the platen replacement with precision, successfully removing and replacing each platen within the one-day-per-unit schedule requested by the client.
