Buckingham Heavy Transport assisted with the modification and expansion of a 36′ x 185′, 650-ton, flat-bottom barge. Our team supported the barge while it was sectioned into two pieces and a 20’ extension was added to its center. Using the Buckingham dolly system, we moved one half of the barge 50 feet sideways to create space for the extension. Once the extension was installed, we moved the separated half back into place, ensuring proper alignment and stability for the final welding and integration process. This expansion resulted in a 56′ x 185′ barge, increasing its cargo capacity by approximately 35,000 cubic feet.
