Case Highlights
The Buckingham Heavy Transport team contracted to deliver a 399,000-lb transformer, beginning with a barge roll-off and culminating at the substation a few miles up the road. After site visits, route surveys, and permitting were complete, Buckingham met the barge at the river and set up crane mats and barge ramps for unloading the transformer from the barge. Buckingham used a 12-line Goldhofer SPMT, whose self-propelled capabilities easily handled the slow, precise move off the barge, the climb out of the river bottom, and the move down the road to the substation. At the site, Buckingham’s crew used a jack and slide system to safely transfer the transformer to its foundation pad.
