Case Highlights
Buckingham lifted and transported this 125′ x 22′ 6″ single-span railway bridge from its staging area to permanent abutments. The bridge was fabricated in an adjacent lot a couple hundred feet from the abutments. We lifted the 555,000-lb bridge to a 16′ elevation with cribbing and jacks, then built custom dolly transporters using Buckingham power and coaster dollies, three levels of steel beams, and 150-ton stands under it. We integrated a Buckingham slide system between the beams to allow for lateral adjustment, and drove the bridge section across the lot and into position.
Client Satisfaction
Buckingham’s custom equipment allowed us to complete the bridge placement within our client’s tight time constraints. Our dolly transporters’ crabsteer capabilities allowed us to drive the bridge section diagonally from the staging area into alignment with the abutments without time-costly maneuvering. Our integrated slide and jacking systems also enabled us to precisely and quickly adjust the placement of the bridge on location. Buckingham safely installed the bridge section well within our client’s designated window.
